In case you have ever wondered...

why "the fullness of time" came before the invention of the automobile; this video illustrates one of the reasons why. Canyon has greatly enjoyed playing with his nativity set. At a friends house the other day, he was calling Santa Clause a "wise man".
"Go to sleep guys"
"There's a truck coming"
"Wake up!"
"There's a truck coming"
"Ouch"
"Go to sleep guys"
"Ouch"
"Wake up!!"
"There's a truck coming"
By the way Steve, it is a Ford Truck :)

Anniversary # 8

Wedding Day Memories
It was a gorgeous August Day, cool, sunny, just beautiful!!! God blessed us with an amazing day, wonderful family and friends to celebrate, and a dream come true wedding!
Eight years later, God has been faithful and has blessed us so abundantly. Our love is deeper, our friendship is stronger, and we have grown closer to God and one another.
We are so thankful for Canyon. We are so excited for baby #2 to join us any day now!
Praise the LORD, for HE is the giver of these good gifts of Marriage and children.

With hearts full of Joy because of Jesus,
Scott, Lornel, and Canyon Paul

Canyon loves to tap my tummy and say "Baby" He was alittle distracted by my buttons, and started saying "button" instead, but he is sweet!

May and June Highlights

In May...
we took a vacation to the East Coast! We went to NY, NH, and CT. Our time in NY we went to Word of Life (WOL) for four days to attend the Founder's Week celebration and have some time as a family.
We went to NH to visit Lornel's Mom and her husband Rob, then on to CT to visit Lornel's Brother and familly, Dad, and special friends in Eastford.

Canyon was an ALL STAR 17 month traveler! God answered prayer for him as we spend alot of time in the car! He was healthy, and was a joy! Aside from a scrape on the nose from taking a tumble off the bed at the WOL Inn, and a few diaper disasters, it was a very uneventful trip!
Being back at Word of Life was a delight to REMEMBER where we were taught God's Word, where we met, and first choose love for one another.
In June...we took a weekend camping trip in Warrenville. It was close to home, but it really felt like we got away... sort of! The first night God gave us rain, and that lasted through about noon the next day. We went back home hoping and praying that the rain would pass. By that afternoon the sun came out and there was time for fishing, and for our Friends the Walkers to join us! The whole weekend turned out to be a sweet time with family and friends. Canyon especially loved being outside. He loved playing in the dirt, and with rocks, and with his friends Elijah and Sammy.

As we wait on God to show us his direction for us may we be found faithful in living for Jesus. Lately God has been really teaching me (Lornel) much about faith and believing God to do his work in and through me. I am encouraged at His faithfulness!

Praise God for
  • Baby Curey is doing really well! Lornel is healthy too!
  • Safety on the roads
  • For special times as a family
Pray for
  • God's guidance
  • a safe and healthy delivery of our little one (Due August 29)
  • that we would exercise faith in God in serving Him

Happy Easter!

Christ the LORD is Risen today, Hallelujah!
It was a wonderful day. After Church we went to our neighbor's house to celebrate with several International Students from China and one from Jordan. It was so much fun.

Canyon has begun saying the word "ball" for anything that resembles a ball. He called the Easter Eggs balls too!
Video taken this morning.

This video was taken 3/25. Canyon was playing in the kitchen in his laundry basket.

One more thing... The baby is growing! Praise the LORD that this little one is doing good and we have begun to feel the baby move and kick. 20 weeks today.

Canyon is walking!

This video was taken Jan 17, 2009 He is getting the idea of how to walk.

This video was taken Feb 17, 2009. He has mastered the art of climbing! At the end of the video he is looking for a good hand hold on the hippo. He grabs and ear or the tail and sucks his thumb.

I took this video tonight March 7, 2009. He would have walked further if he hadn't tripped on my foot! He is really getting around now!

Seeing the Car the first time on 12/23

I love this picture we took after we had cleaned out our car. It shows me just how much JOY God had given us in this trial. 12/23/08

March 11, 2009 I am adding some updated info about the accident and I am adding an edited version of the email I sent the night after the accident. There is so much to tell, but this is the basic story. There are some other details unbeknown to us at the time of the accident. Lornel was 4 weeks pregnant! We are expecting our second child to arrive at the end of August!!! We know the LORD Jesus and His angels were watching over our family of 4. It was also a blessing to not know about the baby as I think I would have worried more. Our desire is the Jesus would be glorified. I am still amazed at how he protected us so specifically.

We have been through one of the most amazing experiences of our lives.
December 21, 2008 Scott, Canyon, and I were driving back to IL from a long weekend in Jackson MI. About 3:30 PM we were involved in a serious 10 car pile up. Scott was the only one injured in the accident as we hit the back of a semi.
Scott broke a front tooth, has a cut on his forehead the size of a golf-ball, and his lips have been cut up alot from the glass that was everywhere. Canyon was covered in glass, but literally did not have one scratch. I have a tiny cut on my right hand. Scott did his best to control the vehicle but couldn't avoid the impact of the semi as there was black ice on the road and whiteout conditions. The car is totaled. God provided a modern day good Samaritan family to help us within a few minutes after the accident. God allowed them to slow down because they saw people waving their arms out the window on the other side of the highway in a white out. Otherwise, they could have hit us. We believe an Angel gave Lornel a blanket too (another story).

We are rejoicing in God and His protection. Sorry if this is the first time you are hearing about this. We love you and we are praising God that Scott is alive. He walked out of the car and to the ambulance. He went through shock, and has no memory of the accident (Still doesn't remember March 09). He has regained all his regular memory and has passed the tests they have given him concerning his memory/reasoning...etc.

We have experienced God's protection. Jesus has chosen to spare Scott and give us more time together. I am humbled even as I write this note with tears of JOY. But We rejoice in the steadfast love of the LORD that never ceases. His mercies never come to an end they are new every morning. Great is thy faithfulness, Great is thy faithfulness.
Thank you for your prayers and for who you are to us. We have much to praise God for today.
With Love Always, Lornel for Scott, and Canyon

The bumper was placed in the car for transporting purposes.

Where the angels protected Canyon. This is holy ground.

In the video I said the safety bar, but we think the back of the truck damaged the roof. Scott was literally 8 inches from eternity.
