Seeing the Car the first time on 12/23

I love this picture we took after we had cleaned out our car. It shows me just how much JOY God had given us in this trial. 12/23/08

March 11, 2009 I am adding some updated info about the accident and I am adding an edited version of the email I sent the night after the accident. There is so much to tell, but this is the basic story. There are some other details unbeknown to us at the time of the accident. Lornel was 4 weeks pregnant! We are expecting our second child to arrive at the end of August!!! We know the LORD Jesus and His angels were watching over our family of 4. It was also a blessing to not know about the baby as I think I would have worried more. Our desire is the Jesus would be glorified. I am still amazed at how he protected us so specifically.

We have been through one of the most amazing experiences of our lives.
December 21, 2008 Scott, Canyon, and I were driving back to IL from a long weekend in Jackson MI. About 3:30 PM we were involved in a serious 10 car pile up. Scott was the only one injured in the accident as we hit the back of a semi.
Scott broke a front tooth, has a cut on his forehead the size of a golf-ball, and his lips have been cut up alot from the glass that was everywhere. Canyon was covered in glass, but literally did not have one scratch. I have a tiny cut on my right hand. Scott did his best to control the vehicle but couldn't avoid the impact of the semi as there was black ice on the road and whiteout conditions. The car is totaled. God provided a modern day good Samaritan family to help us within a few minutes after the accident. God allowed them to slow down because they saw people waving their arms out the window on the other side of the highway in a white out. Otherwise, they could have hit us. We believe an Angel gave Lornel a blanket too (another story).

We are rejoicing in God and His protection. Sorry if this is the first time you are hearing about this. We love you and we are praising God that Scott is alive. He walked out of the car and to the ambulance. He went through shock, and has no memory of the accident (Still doesn't remember March 09). He has regained all his regular memory and has passed the tests they have given him concerning his memory/reasoning...etc.

We have experienced God's protection. Jesus has chosen to spare Scott and give us more time together. I am humbled even as I write this note with tears of JOY. But We rejoice in the steadfast love of the LORD that never ceases. His mercies never come to an end they are new every morning. Great is thy faithfulness, Great is thy faithfulness.
Thank you for your prayers and for who you are to us. We have much to praise God for today.
With Love Always, Lornel for Scott, and Canyon

The bumper was placed in the car for transporting purposes.

Where the angels protected Canyon. This is holy ground.

In the video I said the safety bar, but we think the back of the truck damaged the roof. Scott was literally 8 inches from eternity.
